Alright, so today I made some really cool "crayon cakes" out of some old, gross crayons we had lying around the house. They were really simple to make and a lot of fun too. Just don't eat them.
First, you will need some type of silicone baking cups. Try experimenting with different shapes, such as heart shaped crayons as Valentines for kids. The crayon is pretty difficult to get out of the cups, so I suggest visiting the dollar store to see if the have any cheap molds you can get. You probably don't want to go and bake cupcakes and find crayons all over your baking cups. if you can't find anything silicone, use cupcake liner in cupcake pans. Those are easy to clean up.
Now you'll want to peel the wrappers off your crayons and break them into pieces. You can mix colors if you would like, or make solid color crayons. It's up to you.
Now pop your crayon cakes into the oven or toaster oven at around 250 degrees. Keep a close eye on them. Once they've melted, take them out of the oven and leave them to cool. You can try putting them in the fridge to make them cool faster.
Once they are hard and solid, pop them out of the cups/molds from the bottom. Sometimes it helps to turn the cups inside out.
Then you have your Crayon Cakes! Now you have a cool way to color!
